We are trying to move a site with a Kartis shop to a different server and have copied down the database and all its files from its previous location.

When I log into the server and view the site with its live url I can see all the product pages, get into the admin area etc. But when I view the site from another computer all I get is a fairly unhelpful

Server Error in '/shop' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.

I have looked at the original installation documentation and ensured that the IIS user has permissions to modify all files in the Shop folder. Is there something I need to re-trigger in the database to make things work? The url has not changed, and neither has the site, except that it is now running on IIS 8.5. Can anyone tell me what I've missed?

Ok, I have realised that I'm going to have to install Kartris from scratch at the new location and then bring over the site customisations and product images etc.

IF the site is running from the local computer, and you cannot see it from others without that (server side) error, then you're not seeing the same site from both computers. Most likely, the one where you think it is working has a hosts file mod, and you're looking at the old (working) site.

You should not need to do a new installation. You should be able to install the existing files, and the existing db backup, and configure it to run.

Check the app pool is set to asp.net 4 (as opposed to 2 or 1). But first, make sure you run trace roots, because I can't see any reason why you'd get a server side error from one location, but not from another. That is almost certainly because you're not looking at the same site.
