OK think I have resolved the issue with generating a promotion for category [c].
I was assigning the parent category and not the sub category that the products are position within.
So promotion works like this: Buy [x] items from category [c] Get [x]% off [p]
However I would need to setup a separate promotion for the other categories.

So rather than having twenty promotions running (each covering one item) I would like one promotion to cover twenty items from two categories.
Also can Kartris handle multiple coupon codes at the checkout???

I was trying to setup one coupon code to cover the promotion for 15% off a range of products. Is this possible without offering 15% off all items in the store?
I have also tried to setup a promotion that calls any product purchased in category and received x% off the price.
But this seems not to work.

This isn't doing what you think.
Part A of the promotion is what has to be present to trigger the promotion. Part B is what you get in response.
In your promotion, someone would need to buy all four products to trigger the promotion.
You need to set up separate ones. Note also the config setting frontend.promotions.maximum.
We typically limit the number of promotions to 1. Be careful if you have more not to have overlapping ones. For example buy 2 of X get something, buy 3 of X get something. If you have multiple ones, then 3 of X would trigger both of these, which might not be your intention.

I have setup a promotion and linked the promotion to a coupon.
This initially worked fine for a single item:
Promotion Setup - Single Item Buy 1 of aaaa (product) - Get 15% off aaaa (product)
However, I am looking at offering a 15% discount for more items under the same category. So I expanded the Promotion to include more items.
Promotion Setup - Multiple Items Buy 1 of aaaa (product) - Get 15% off aaaa (product) Buy 1 of bbbb (product) - Get 15% off bbbb (product) Buy 1 of cccc (product) - Get 15% off cccc (product) Buy 1 of dddd (product) - Get 15% off dddd (product)
When conducting a test, two products featured in the promotion are added the the shopping basket, but the 15% discount is only applied to one item by Kartris.
Is there anything that should be done differently???
