I have only a few products I am starting with, how do I display only products in the menu so clicking will go directly to the product and not to the category?

The category menu can only show categories. If you only have a few products, you could just hardcode your own menu in the skin, and remove the category menu control. Obviously when you add new products, you'll need to add them to the menu on the skin manually.
