Hi there

I'm having an odd problem with some back-end pages of Kartris; in fact most pages where a number of text / select inputs are present.

Kartirs data is in SQL 2008 R2, Kartris version is v2.5009

This affects my live deployment server, but not the local server. The files and database are 100% identical. Live is IIS 6, local is IIS 7.5. Both targeting .NET 4. Same browser(s) being used to test both.

Examples:

Local:

Add product page - displays correctly
Add category page - displays correctly
Regional setup wizard - works correctly

Live:

Add product page - displays correctly
Add category page - displays heading "Categories: New Category" and nothing else
Regional setup wizard - allows me to select base currency but postback doesn't work and so doesn't display the next input in the sequence.

Have tried uploading screenshots to demonstrate this more clearly than I can describe it but the photo upload and file attachment doesn't seem to be working at present.

Regards,
Simon

We don't have anything running on IIS6 these days, but I suspect it's related to that in some way. Although if ASP.NET 4 is there, in theory it should work. I wonder if anyone else has an IIS6 install they can test this on? (assuming Windows 2003, I believe support ends for this next year so probably worth considering an upgrade there anyway even if it turns out to be fixable).

Thanks. Server upgrade is on the cards. In the mean time will shift the site to 2008 R2 and see if that fixes it. .NET 4 should be .NET 4 though Unsure

Mostly worked this out.

Combination of urlscan running in the background and some weird front-end issues in IE.

However if I go to this page http://preview2.bilberrydesign.co.uk/CustomerAccount.aspx the 'new customer' and 'existing customer' radio buttons work in some browsers and don't in others. Same for things like saving updates in /Admin.

Browsers all up to date versions...

Win 7 / Win 8: IE - not work

Win 7 / Win 8: Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Safari - work

iPad iOS7: Safari - work

iPad iOS7: Chrome, Mercury - not work

Since it works in some browsers I can't see this is a server / IIS version issue.

Confused!

Hello and thank you for the link.

I have tested this myself and get a "__doPostBack not defined" error. On StackOverflow there is a post regarding this that says it is due to .Net 2 and .Net 4 not having correct browser definition files (Kartris uses .Net 4) for IE10+ and that there is a hotfix available to fix this.

The page is here:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15273618/ie10-script5009-dopostback-is-undefined
Can you try it and see if this works please?

Thank you very much for the link.

Applied the .NET 4 fix to the machine - didn't work

Applied the .NET 4 fix at the site level - didn't work (NuGet reported the package already installed in fact)

Started from scratch with v2.7 - didn't work

Only thing to try next is renting a dedicated 2008 R2 virtual server and seeing if that resolves this Ajax issue.

Given that the Hotfix applied to Server 2008 / Server 2008 R2 as well as 2003 it is by no means certain it will work.

I wonder if anybody from Kartris will see this and has any input in how horrific this software has proven to set up and import data into; 20 hours and counting so far.

Simonrl,

I sympathise with you regarding your installation problems as I have been trying to help you with the import issues as well but I would ask you to give Kartris the opportunity to prove itself, once setup it really is amougst the best out there. Please be mindful that the problem you are currently experiencing is nothing to do with Kartris, this is Net Framework and will cause you a problem with any ASP.Net based application.

I have had a read about and seen that all of these problems are resolved in Net 4.5 so you could always consider up scalling the application and installing this later version of Net Framework on your server.

One question, did you try restarting IIS after you installed the hot fixes?

In my case I use 2008R2 and have not tried 2003 so I cannot say if that impacts the problem.
