Google are always banging on about how you should design sites for humans not search engines, so I guess the answer is to do what ever make sense for a visitor. The title tag seems to be given the most 'weight' of the many factors in my experience (and so it should as it is describing the page content), so if he version names were to contain keywords that people might search for, then I think it always helps to have these in the title tag.

I tend to agree with what Paul said about generally only using versions for 'options' like pack sizes etc.

Yep I prefer having the versions listed separately. But when the versions suppliedcontain the same accessories we will list together, for equipment that issupplied with different accessories I am thinking about listing as a separate product.

It’s that old argument listing each product version separately or as one product with multiple versions!

Do you have any information if listing each version separately actually generates more revenue? Or know where I can view stats about this?

If the versions are that different anyway I always think it makes sense to add them at product level separately. This has added benefits of being able to add multiple images, SEO meta text etc.

A dropdown menu can only really support a single line of plain text for each entry, so if you have descriptions, RRP and other information (including version image) to display for each version, you really need to display versions in the tabular format. The dropdown option is only really good for cases where the version name is simple enough to explain the differences between the versions (such as '4 pack', '8 pack', etc.)

Thank you

I have also noticed this in the v2.5 demo.

Although by listing versions in this way, removes the list Description box details which I use to detail product version features, package accessories etc.

You can achieve this now by selecting the version display type to 'dropdown'.

A client has asked for the next revision of their website, to change the way products versions are listed.

Rather than listing all the versions below each other, they feel that a drop down menu box would be a better way to 'unclutter' the page.

The drop down menu lists all product versions. When a version is clicked, the default price changes.

The default price could be the cheapest version.
