Would it be possible to send me the excel file in a private message so I can check it out? Products can be set to multiple categories if that's what you need but this can only be done through the backend. At the moment, the data tool isn't capable of setting products to multiple categories so you just have to do it manually after import. If the manufacturer's product code is unique then its probably better to use it as the V_Codenumber as its one of the fields that get queried during search.

Hi Medz
Thanks for the reply. This is the problem (and I have it with at least two manufacturers), there are cases where one products is destined for two different categories (because in this case, it fits more than 1 car). The other difficulty is that I would like the part numbers to be searchable.
Is there a way to keep the manufacturer's product code as a searchable attribute and I'll have to make up a system that has unique SKUs for our own site?
Best regards
Ben

Hi Ben, the data tool uses the V_CodeNumber in the excel/csv field as a unique identifier for each product. This enables the data tool to also do bulk update. At the moment there's no way to import data without specifying a unique V_Codenumber for each item. If you have unique SKU for each product, you can use that as the V_Codenumber.

Further to this I also tried an import with no V_CodeNumber and none of the products were imported, although when adding a product manually I don't need to enter a product code. Is there a way to import products without assigning a V_CodeNumber/having Kartis assign it's own?

Hi all
I've just started playing around with Kartris with the view to using it for our ecommerce solution.
I've tried a bulk import of 260 categories and some of them haven't worked properly - on investigation it's because the manufacturer's part numbers appear under more than one category. In this case it's exhaust systems and they've listed one part number under Audi A4 2001-2005 and Audi A4 2005-2007.
Is V_CodeNumber the correct field to use in this case or is there a seperate field I can use that will allow the manufacturer's product number to be searchable both in the shop and hopefully via Google etc too. I'm assuming the problem is that V_CodeNumber needs to be unique.
Thanks
Ben
