I bought a hosting plan with arvixe. And I've been trying to install Kartris and keep gettting error 40 -- > (A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) > >

I followed all the installation guide from Arivixe website.I've already set up a username, password and database on my websitepanel but when come to step 3 always get error msg. This is what I put:

> Server name: KartrisSQLConnection

> Username : *(my username on database)

> Password : *(my passwd on database)

> Database : * my server name

I contacted Arvixe several times and they said couldnt help me to install or whatsoever. Please help.. as it's my first time to build a website, more more detail will be helpfull.

Thanks,
Mart

That server name doesn't seem right.

Most probably the server name will be supplied to you by your host. It would probably be either an ip address, eg numeric in this type of form...

123.123.123.123

or a domain form eg

db12.arvixe.com

Then the database setting should be the name you gave your db.

Let me know how you get on!

I use Arvixe and it is, in fact, an IP address like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx--they will provide you that information.
