When a product is associated with a category that is not live ("Show on site" is unticked), then the category is still shown in the list of "Try these Categories". Clicking on the link produces a strange situation where the 404 page tries to be displayed and at the same time (in the same html page) the Categories page as well!
You can reproduce this by using the categories/products included in the latest (v2.8004) download, simply turn off whole Category 2 (untick Show on site for the category) and view
the "Single item product" in Category 1 (/Category-1/Single-Item-Product__p-1-1.aspx). Then click on the "Category 2" link under "Try these categories".
I suspect the fix would be to simply display Live categories ONLY in the "Try these categories" list.
The scenario where products are associated with "inactive" categories is not uncommon, especially where the shop owner has categories assigned in the admin area for management purposes that the normal shop visitor never sees etc.
