I have set the category menu to accordion.
When I click on a top level category that contains both products and sub categories it only open the accordion menu. It doesn't actually go to the category page.
If I click on a sub category and then click on the primary category on the breadcrumb trail, I can get there.
Is there a way to open the accordion AND go to the category page too?

There isn't... the accordion is probably not the right choice if you have products and subcats under a top level category. The point of the accordion is that it expands client side and so does not call a new page. Calling a new page kind of undoes the point of the animated expansion of the menu and it also means you end up with the subcats in the menu expanded, but also duplicated on the main page section too.

I understand where you are coming from, but what would you recommend? Can you recommend a better way to do this?
