When I got to the admin section, I get Oops an error occurred.

I checked the uploads/logs/errors/2014.01 folder and received the following exceptions:

>> Unhandled Error occurred in Page:http://www.mysite.com/Admin/_Default.aspx

System.Web.HttpParseException (0x80004005): External component has thrown an exception. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException (0x80004005): External component has thrown an exception.

The front side of the website works fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Greg

It is the default install and I haven't changed anything because I can't get to it.

I was using IE and decided to try Firefox and now I can get into the Admin area, however several of the menus under the Configuration section still bring me to the Oops page. I can add categories and products though.

Under the Regional Setup menu, I cannot get to the following pages:
Language Strings
Live Currency Rates

Under the Configuration menu, I cannot get to the following pages:
Database Admin
Payment and Shipping Gateways

Under the Miscellaneous menu, I cannot get to the following pages:
Front News Items

I don't understand why some of the menus work and some don't.

Thanks,
Greg

Sounds a bit like AJAX isn't working. This came up quite a while ago, eg

http://forum.kartris.com/Topic1309.aspx

Are you installed on your own machine, or on a hosting package?

The first thought that comes to mind is that although the user has access to the files and SQL database, it may only have read access. The user requires full access to the data and files within the Kartris folder.

Please review the documentation on installing Kartris manually and pay attention to the setting of permission for both folder/files and for the database.
Section 2.4.2 of the following page...
http://userguide.kartris.com/Default.aspx?headID=26

Should you copy the files from the installation .zip over again, make a copy of the web.config file in the root directory and retain this file as it contains all your personalised settings. If the problem persists you may want to try forcing the setup routine in section 2.4.4. of the same document.

Do you know which version of IIS you are running?
Is the install on a server accessible publicly?

I can confirm that both IE9 and IE10 have no issues when accessing Kartris. A different browser should perform no different.

Make sure ASP.net 4.5 is installed. There were some issues with IE if only running 4 or lower (MS hadn't written those to handle latest IE, bit of an oversight on their part!)
