hi all,
i am quite new with kartris and like to set it up customized. So everything runs so far locally but i need to limit search results by attributes. e.g. clicking on a category - it will bring up all related products. but behind each product there are attributes and values.  like manufacturer or color or length.
i like to have some dropdownlists under the category desciption to reduce or exclude products which do not have the related attribute.
i think it is very helpful for customers having a low hierarchy in categories. it would be very helpful to have one category-level and search for products with related attributes.

please help me with this issue.

thank you,
malte

Do you mean filters within a category? So a category might have 100 products, but you can filter these by manufacturer or some other value that certain products might have?

This isn't possible at the moment, but it's something we'd consider in future.

We've tended to focus more on the main search for finding items. In our observations, customers tend to be familiar with Google and the search engine approach rather than navigating to a category and then applying various filters. It's possible to add attributes into the search (edit an attribute from the back end to change its settings), and so the keyword search should make it very simple for customers to go straight to relevance products, without having to use filters and a process of elimination to find them.

Dear Paul,

thank you for your reply.
Yes, this is acually what I am looking for. This is very important - not only for me! Kartris should offer this feature. I think with this feature Kartris will soon become no 1 in webstores because I do not know any webstore offering this feature. But it is very important for customers to find the product.
This is also very intersting in advanced search!!! Because everybody has other words for describing items!!! So with a fulltext search you probably will not find the exact item or any item and customers are getting bored by searching - they will look for other sites or webstores offering the product. This is why open standards like ecl@ss exists.
Please try to insert this feature as soon as possible.
I am not a big developer but I hope I can do it for me... I hope so...

Thank you and regards,

Malte
