Hi,
I'm trying to set up a shop where customers don't need to register and create an account. I've been searching through config and documentation but I can't work out how (or if it's possible) to remove the need for customers to need an account.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks Chris

We get asked for this from time to time. I've added a KB article regarding this:
http://www.kartris.com/Knowledgebase/Can-customers-purchase-without-creating-an-account__k-57.aspx
You don't need to create an account or register on Kartris. You need to give it details about yourself in order to checkout, and an account is created with these.
It's still unclear to us exactly what people are getting at when they request this, but we can only assume it is a misunderstanding driven by the design of some stores in which customers are forced to register and create an account to use the basket or in some cases view products. Because if you're going to buy goods on the internet, you're going to have to give your name, address, email, phone whether an account gets created with these or not.

Thanks for the response.
The main thing I was trying to stop was the password stuff. I know you can skip it and an account is created.
I'm happy with accounts actually being created, I just want it to be transparent to the user.
The type of things we sell just don't attract repeat custom (sports team branded items) so with customers who are only likely to buy once a year ish then an account is just an annoyance.

Kartris will enforce accounts by email address, so if you have previously used an email address on the site and come back, it will see that this address was used before and make you login. If you forget your password, it's no problem, you just request a reset link. Then you can choose a password to use in future. It's much quicker to do this than have to enter all your details again. The system will have your address on file, your name, phone number - most details except your card itself which is never stored.
So if customers do come back after a year, this is going to save them time, not add additional hassle. They don't need to remember their password, they can easily reset it if they forget it, it's still much quicker than having to rekey even just the address, let alone name, phone number, etc.
